Feels Playlist

Attachment-1

Are you in the mood for feeling sad? Are you already sad? Well, let me take you on a feels trip. I’m gonna supply you with some songs from a variety of genres, that hit me in the feels, and hopefully you as well. Also, hope you feel better soon. πŸ™‚

1. Let Me Down Slowly – Alec Benjamin

Alec Benjamin – Let Me Down Slowly [Official Music Video]

Pretty much any song by Alec Benjamin will send you on a feels trip, but I’ve decided to choose Let Me Down Slowly. Emotion just pours out of his voice, and he sounds truly pained. The chorus, as sad as it is, is very addictive, and something I’m sure everyone can relate to.

2. Particles – Nothing But Thieves

Nothing But Thieves – Particles (Official Video)

Particles? More like tear my heart out and feed it to the lions. This song is probably the one that hits me most on this list, and (fun fact) is my favourite by NBT. That’s mainly due to the delivery of the vocals from Conor Mason. If this song doesn’t strike you in the heart, well, you’re cold.

3. Terrible Things – Mayday Parade

Terrible Things by Mayday Parade (Lyrics)

This list just wouldn’t be complete without a song from Mayday Parade (and I’m not just saying that because they’re my favourite band). I’ve chosen Terrible Things out of many other emotional masterpieces from the band, and it’s a real tear-jerker. It basically tells the story of Derek Sanders (in the POV of a father) talking to his son about his mother. Kinda like a How I Met Your Mother kind of scenario. It get’s very sad very quickly. Just take a listen.

4. If I’m Lucky – State Champs

State Champs “If I’m Lucky” Official Music Video

I’d like to start of by saying I witnessed this song live back in October when State Champs were on their Living Proof UK tour in Norwich. It was truly an amazing experience listening to the raw emotion of just Derek DiScanio and his acoustic guitar, as well as the sound of the crowd singing along with him. All in all, this song is just a chill sounding song with great lyrics, and would’ve thought that DiScanio wrote this when he was 15! What a talented person.

5. Doomsday (Piano Reprise) – Architects

Architects – “Doomsday” (Piano Reprise)

I was highly debating whether to put the original or the piano version in here, but after thinking about it, I chose the piano reprise. Still listen to the original though (Architects – “Doomsday”). The PR of Doomsday strips back from the heavy instruments and vocals/screams and gives Sam Carter the chance to show us his cleans in a softer sounding style. The original has a more emotional hit due to Carter’s screams, whereas this positions you to focus on the lyricism more. The lyrics that will hit you most includes I saw the wildfire spread, You said you cheated death, But heaven was in my head, and, They say the good die young, referring to their Guitarist Tom Searle, who unfortunately lost a 3 year-long battle with skin cancer in 2016. Give this song (and the original) a listen, and you will not regret it.

6. Merry Go Round – Machine Gun Kelly

Machine Gun Kelly – Merry Go Round

Where do I start with this song. Had me thinking about it for a long time. This song is about a guy (Bobby) who accidentally and unknowingly get’s his girlfriend addicted to heroin before going to the army. At the same time, she discovers she has a child. Thinking Bobby died in the war, the addiction gets worse and worse for her, that it leads to a suicide. Bobby returns and sees his girlfriend dead, along with their unborn baby. Knowing that he was the one who caused this, he shot himself. This song is one of many of Kells best lyrical masterpieces, and the emotion portrayed in this song is something special. Highly recommend to anybody.

7. Ugly – 2NE1

2NE1 – UGLY M/V

Had to include some Kpop in this. Even though at first listen it may sound like just another song, it’s lyrics are very deep. This is most clear through the all english chorus (I think I’m ugly, And nobody wants to love me), sung amazingly by leader CL. It’s a song that pretty much everyone can relate to, and the girls deliver it perfectly. I’d also recommend this live version of Ugly, (2NE1 – UGLY – 2014 WORLD TOUR [ALL OR NOTHING IN SEOUL]), as I feel as though it hits harder due to it being stripped back, and you can really hear the raw emotion from CL, Bom, Dara and Minzy.

8. An Ode To Lost Jigsaw Puzzles – Enter Shikari

Enter Shikari – An Ode To Lost Jigsaw Pieces (in two movements) [Official Audio]

Enter Shikari have never disappointed with their songs. This is no doubt one of their most emotional tracks they’ve ever made, and features some of my favourite lyrics, (I was so scared of confronting the world alone, Fear put me in a headlock and dragged me back from the unknown). The emotion just seeps through Rou Reynolds’ voice, and really puts you in the position to think. The repetition at the end of the song, with We’ll cope somehow, will cast you into a sobbing trance, I’m not even kidding. Amazing track.

9. Black Dahlia – Hollywood Undead

Hollywood Undead – Black Dahlia [Lyrics]

Another band I was lucky enough to go see live (they were amazing by the way). This is my favourite song from Undead, along with Bullet, which could easily be on this list as well, however Black Dahlia strikes me more. Notable lyrics such as And I’ve, been abused, I feel so used, because of youΒ in the chorus will break your heart. Huge props to J-Dog and the way he delivered his verse. He was definitely the highlight of the song for me, and I’m not gonna lie, after he sang the line Pull up my sleeves and see the pattern of my cuts, I cried like a baby. Especially at the voice crack when he said “Pull”. They’re one of the best bands to make deep and meaningful songs.Β

10. Hang On – Tom Macdonald

Tom MacDonald – “Hang On” (Prod. by MISERY)

I sometimes can’t even listen to this song sometimes, due to the fact that the lyrics are so explicit in a way that you can’t really do anything but listen to them. (I don’t feel like myself, I think I need help, The people I talk to, Say keep hangin’ on, I don’t know if I want to). If I could quote the entirety of the song I would do, as it’s something that, in rap music especially, doesn’t really get talked about in the majority. It’s unfortunate that Tom Macdonald isn’t more well-known, but hey, I guess people are scared of the truth.

Okay, the feels trip is over!

Obviously, there are so many more songs out there, but I’ve decided on these 10 to start off with (I’ll make a part 2 maybe?)

I realised that this playlist probably made you more sad than you were before you clicked on this, so.. sorry about that.

BUT

My next playlist will be a Hype Playlist, filled with songs to put you in a good mood and to want to party!

See you next time!
